Son personnage Joseph Rouletabille, jeune apprenti reporter à l'intelligence déductive hors du commun, qui apparaît pour la première fois dans Le Mystère de la Chambre Jaune, devient le héros d'autres romans tels que Le Parfum de la Dame en Noir (1908), Rouletabille Chez le Tsar (1912) et Le Crime de Rouletabille (1921).
